The OHSAA represents its member schools by recognizing and promoting academics, the safety of participants, good citizenship and lifelong values as the foundation of interscholastic athletics.

  2008 Fall Sports Officials Renewal Deadline is July 31, 2008

    NONPAYMENT OF OFFICIATING FEES
    - When an official fails to pay the permit fee by June 30, 2008, a late fee will apply.  Officials who pay late may not be considered for OHSAA tournament selection.  When the permit fee and late fee are not received on or before the late payment deadline, the official is no longer permitted to officiate and must apply the following school year.

  OHSAA Honors 53 Scholar-Athletes

For the 16th consecutive year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association awarded scholarships to some of the state’s top senior scholar-athletes. Fifty-three students were honored at the OHSAA Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Banquet on June 20 at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North. The names of the 2008 recipients appear later in this news release.

Of the 53 student-athletes who were awarded scholarships, 41 received $1,000 awards, including five students that received an OHSAA Minority Scholarship, and 12 students — two from each district — were presented $2,000 stipends.   Univ. Of Dayton's Mike Kelly Receives OHSAA Ethics And Integrity Award

The Ohio High School Athletic Association recently presented former University of Dayton football coach Mike Kelly with the OHSAA Ethics and Integrity Award. Kelly, who retired last fall after completing his 27th season as Dayton’s head coach, was honored during the OHSAA’s 16th Annual Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Banquet, which was held June 20 in Columbus. The Ethics and Integrity Award is presented annually to an Ohioan who has displayed outstanding ethical behavior and integrity in performing his duties and is a role model for others.   Jerry Snodgrass Hired As OHSAA Assistant Commissioner

  • Jerry Snodgrass is trading his 31 years of service to schools in Northwest Ohio to serve all the schools in the state. Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Commissioner Daniel B. Ross has announced the hiring of Snodgrass as assistant commissioner after his hiring was unanimously approved by the OHSAA Board of Directors in a special meeting held Tuesday. He will begin his duties sometime this summer.

    Snodgrass, who has been employed by the Findlay City Schools since 1983 and has served as that school district’s high school athletic director since 1992, will be replacing John Dickerson, who will be retiring from the OHSAA Sept. 19 after 13 years as an assistant commissioner. Among his duties with the OHSAA will be to serve as the Association’s chief administrator for the sports of baseball, basketball and soccer. Click to view entire news release...

  New Requirement for Pupil Activities Applications from the ODE

  • Governor Ted Strickland signed House Bill 190 into law Wednesday, November 14.  This bill goes into effect immediately. All Pupil Activity applications received by the Ohio Department of Education (ODE) after 11/18 requires both a current BCII and FBI fingerprint results. Updated applications reflecting this law will be available for download at this link on the ODE web site: Click to access application. The pupil activity application is the last option on this page.
