2009-10 Media Regulations

The following information was prepared to assist you with your coverage of the upcoming OHSAA state volleyball tournaments. Please contact Tim Stried (tstried@ohsaa.org or 614-267-2502, ext. 124) at the OHSAA office should you have additional questions. Previews and additional information will be posted on the OHSAA web site (www.ohsaa.org) the week of each state tournament.

DATES: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 12, 13 and 14, Ervin J. Nutter Center, Wright State University, Dayton.

LOCATION:
The Ervin J. Nutter Center is located at 3640 Colonel Glenn Highway on the campus of Wright State University, Dayton 45435. The arena is less than a mile from Interstate 675. Take the North Fairfield Road exit (exit 17) off of Interstate 675 and proceed north, cross Colonel Glenn Highway and proceed directly into the entrance of the Nutter Center on your right (web site: www.nuttercenter.com).

Semifinal match times are approximate.  The first semifinal match of each day will start at 12:00 p.m. and subsequent matches will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of the preceding match. All matches will use rally scoring and are the best three out of five sets format. All games are played to 25 with no cap (must win by two), with the fifth and deciding set (when necessary) played to 15 (no cap).

CREDENTIALS:
Fax in your form to tournament manager Max Benton at Wright State University (937-775- 2060) as soon as possible following the conclusion of the regional tournament (after you find out for sure that there will be a school from your normal coverage area that has qualified). The deadline to request credentials is 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10. Credentials will be held at the media pass gate for pickup. No credentials will be issued to school, student or freelance photographers.

PARKING:
Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis in lots around the arena.

WORK SPACE/TELEPHONES/INTERVIEWS:
Media members are welcome to work at press row during and following each game and file stories. Some seating is assigned, while other seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Telephones are available for use for credit card, collect or toll-free calls only. Wireless internet access is also available. Players and coaches are available in the interview room following each match.

OhioHSsports.com TO PROVIDE STREAMING:
The OHSAA’s official web-based sponsor, Cleveland.com, will provide exclusive live audio streaming of all four championship contests on its OhioHSsports.com web site. No other streaming of audio will be permitted on either a live or delayed basis for the state finals.

SPORTSTIME OHIO TO TELEVISE STATE FINALS LIVE:
SportsTime Ohio, the OHSAA’s exclusive television partner, will be televising all four championship contests live on Saturday, Nov. 8. The games will be shown on SportsTime Ohio and Time Warner Cable throughout the state. For more details, visit the SportsTime Ohio website, sportstimeohio.com.

ADDITIONAL BROADCASTING AVAILABILITIES, RATES: Radio
-Live or tape-delayed is permitted. The cost is $60 per contest or $300 for all 12 games. Stations are not permitted to stream any of the four championship matches to their company web sites on a live or tape-delayed basis. Audio or Video Streaming-No streaming permitted for the four championship matches due to Cleveland.com exclusivity. Audio streaming of the semifinal matches is permitted at the same rate structure established for radio. Delayed video streaming of the semifinal matches is permitted at the same rate structure established for television. Television-Delayed telecasts of the semifinals only are permitted. The cost is $500 per contest for commercial stations in Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus and regional cable companies with over 750,000 subscribers and $250 per contest for all other stations. Production of the state finals must be arranged with SportsTime Ohio.

RESULTS:
Complete box scores will be posted on the OHSAA web site (www.ohsaa.org) as soon as possible following each contest.
