A: No, new officials who pass their officiating exams are given a certificate ans OHSAA officiating patch after the test.  The certificate will serve as a temporary permit unitl your permanent permit arrives.

   Questions about Local Officiating Associations

Q: Do I have to join a local officiating association?
A: No, membership in a local officiating association is not a requirement.   However, attending four local rules meetings per year is a requirement.  Note: local associations usually charge non-members a fee to attend these meetings.

Q: How do I nominate someone for the Officials Hall of Fame?

Q: Am I covered by insurance if I am injured during an OHSAA contest?
A. Yes, the National Federation of High School Associations provides insurance for licensed OHSAA officials who are injured while officiating through Bollinger Insurance.  Click here for more informationIn addition, the OHSAA Board of Control recently approved additional coverage for Fee Loss and Cardiac Death Benefit.  This additional coverage is through American Specialty Insurance not Bollinger.
