Dublin Jerome Girls Bring Home Fourth Consecutive
State Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio � For the fourth-consecutive year,
the Dublin Jerome girls golf team captured the Division I state title on the
Gray course at The Ohio State University Golf Club Saturday afternoon at the
2014 OHSAA Division I girls golf state tournament.
Jerome won its fifth championship overall as the Celtics (308-318-326)
finished day one ahead of Massillon Jackson by nine strokes. Jackson shot a
311 on day two, but its team total of 628 wasn�t enough to catch Dublin
Jerome. Dublin Coffman finished in third (320-315-335).
Jerome was led by senior Sybil Robinson, who shot 75-74-149.
Avon Lake senior Nikolette Schroeder shot an impressive 74-71-145 and earned
medalist honors. She is the first medalist in school history.

Note: It was first reported that Dover's
score was a girls Div. II state record. However, the girls Div. II
record low is 658.
Dover Wins First State Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio � Dover took home its school�s first state golf
title, besting runner-up Cortland Lakeview by nine strokes, with a
two-day score of 331-336-667 at the 2014 OHSAA girls Division II state
golf tournament on the Gray Course (Par 70, 5,560 yards) at The Ohio
State University Golf Club.
Dover led Lakeview by nine shots after the first day
and the Tornados were able to hold off the runner-up Bulldogs
(340-336-676). Dover was led by junior Katlyn Shutt (73-75-148). Dover
was the 2013 runner-up to Gates Mills Hawken.
Dover and Cortland Lakeview were making their second appearance in the
state tournament after participating for the first time in 2013.
Lakeview finished seventh in 2013.
Leavittsburg LaBrae senior Haylee Harford won medalist honors with an
impressive 68-73-141. Harford is used to the pressure, having won
medalist honors in 2011 when she attended Warren John F. Kennedy.
It was an extremely close competition among the top three individuals.
Tied after day one with Harford, Shelby sophomore Alexis Jones shot a 74
on day two and finished one stroke behind. 2013 medalist Makayla Dull, a
senior from Kansas Lakota, finished three strokes behind the leader
(72-72-144).
Harford�s and Jones� day one 68 set a new low-round record on the Gray
Course for Division II that was previously held by Ariel Witmer from
North Lima South Range in 2008 (69). The 68 also tied the low-round
record across all divisions. In Division I, Jessica Porvasnik from
Medina Highland shot a 68 in 2012.
Harford becomes the fourth two-time medalist in girls golf state
championship history.

Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller Wins First State Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio � On a
chilly day on the Scarlet course at The Ohio State University Golf Club,
Cincinnati Moeller won its first boys golf state title Saturday
afternoon at the 2014 OHSAA Division I boys golf state tournament.
After 16 previous state tournament appearances, including two state
runner-up finishes in 2004 & 2007, the Crusaders could finally call
themselves champions.
Moeller led the field after day one with an impressive 312, eight shots
ahead of Upper Arlington, which fell to third after day two
(320-325-645). Columbus St. Charles (324-321-645) shot three better than
Moeller on day two, but Moeller�s 324 was enough to secure its first
state championship with a team total of 636. St. Charles finished second
and Upper Arlington finished third after tie-breaking procedures.
Moeller junior Ben Sattler led the team with a 76-78-154.
Toledo St. John�s Jesuit senior Jack Mancinotti earned medalist honors
with a 71-74-145. Mancinotti is the first medalist from St. John�s since
1996 when Jamie Spencer won the honors.

Canton Central Catholic Wins Third State
Title
Columbus, Ohio � Canton
Central Catholic captured its third boys golf state championship
Saturday afternoon with an impressive 310-320-630 two-day total as the
2014 Boys Golf Division II State Championship wrapped up at The Ohio
State University Scarlet Course.
Central Catholic was making its 18th state tournament appearance and
added yet another trophy. The Crusaders have now finished first three
times and runner-ups six times. The Crusaders were led by junior Ryan
Mallette (77-77-154).
Columbus Bishop Watterson finished in second place (317-337-654), edging
past Chagrin Falls (321-333-654) by tie-breaking procedures.
Chardon Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin freshman Charlie Toman ended at the
top of the field at his first state tournament, winning medalist honors
with a 74-79-153. Toman is the first medalist from NDCL.
Mallette and Chagrin Falls sophomore Daniel Berlin (78-76-154) tied for
individual runner-up.

Gahanna Columbus Academy Wins Seventh
Boys Golf State Championship
SUNBURY, Ohio � With a
final two-day team score of 314-321-635, Gahanna Columbus Academy
claimed its seventh boys golf state championship and its first since
1999 as the OHSAA Division III state tournament wrapped up Saturday at
NorthStar Golf Club (Par 72, 6,796 yards).
Columbus Academy finished as state runner-up five times since 1999
before claiming its first state championship in 15 years. Its two-day
team score of 635 is the second-best score posted at NorthStar in the
Division III boys golf state tournament. In 2013, Toledo Ottawa Hills
defeated Columbus Academy by 12 strokes to claim its third state
championship, but went on to finish as runner-up to Columbus Academy in
2014 with a final two-day score of 314-328-642.
The two teams were tied after day one, but Columbus Academy gained a
seven stroke edge on day two on its way to victory. The first day scores
of 314 for Gahanna Columbus Academy and Toledo Ottawa Hills are Division
III state tournament round records at NorthStar. Ottawa Hills finishes
as boys golf state runner-up for the sixth time in school history.
Columbus Wellington School finished in third place (320-330-650) and
Sugarcreek Garaway placed fourth (332-323-655).
Warren John F. Kennedy senior Ryan Fowler earned state medalist honors
with a two-day score of 71-72-143. Fowler's opening-round score of 71 is
tied for the second-best Division III individual round at NorthStar and
his second-round score of 72 is tied for the fourth-best Division III
individual round at NorthStar. Fowler finished eighth in 2013 with a
score of 78-78-156. Toledo Ottawa Hills junior Michael Denner posted the
second-highest score (74-74-148). Denner finished 10th in 2013 with a
score of 84-79-163. Ashland Crestview senior Ben Olewiler�s first day
score of 70 is an individual round Division III State Tournament record
for rounds played at NorthStar.
