Brecksville-Broadview Heights Claims 12th Consecutive State Championship

Bees' Streak Continues; Mentor Finishes Second

COLUMBUS, Ohio � The Brecksville-Broadview Heights girls gymnastics team continued its streak this weekend, winning its 12th-consecutive state championship at the 2015 OHSAA gymnastics team state tournament at Hilliard Bradley High School Friday night. The Bees have won 15 total titles.

Once again, the Bees placed first in all four competitions. On vault, they scored 37.350 points. On the uneven bars, they scored 37.125, on beam 36.800 points, and on the floor exercise 37.425 points. 



Junior Alecia Farina scored 38.775 all-around points, setting the highest all-around state tournament point total record since 1990. Farina tied the balance beam state record with a score of 9.675.

Brecksville scored a total of 148.700 team points to top second-place Mentor, which scored 142.500 points. It is Mentor�s third state runner-up finish. Strongsville and Dublin Coffman rounded out top three and four, respectively.

 

 

Brecksville-Broadview Heights Junior Alecia Farina Wins Third-Consecutive Individual Gymnastics Championship 


 

COLUMBUS, Ohio- For the third-consecutive year, Brecksville-Broadview Heights junior Alecia Farina earned the OHSAA gymnastics all-around individual state championship as the 2015 OHSAA gymnastics state tournament concluded Saturday afternoon at Hilliard Bradley High School.

 

With a point total of 38.225, Farina now owns four of the top five highest all-around point totals in state tournament history. Farina set the record Friday night during the team competition with a score of 38.775. On Saturday, Farina won the vault with a score of 9.975, beam with a score of 9.475, floor with a score of 9.600 and finished second on bars with a score of 9.175.

 

Farina�s vault score of 9.975 is a state tournament record. She now owns 11 individual state championships, which is tied for most all-time. Julie Devaty of Rocky River Magnificat won 11 titles between 1996-1999.

 

Mason senior Crystal Kratzer finished first on the bars with a score of 9.250.
