2010 State Volleyball Tournament Preview

COLUMBUS, Ohio-- The 2010 OHSAA State Volleyball Tournament will be held this weekend at the Ervin J. Nutter Center at Wright State University in Dayton. Semifinal matchups in Divisions IV and III will be held Thursday Nov. 11, while Division II and I semifinals will take place Friday Nov. 12. Championship matches for all divisions will be played consecutively Saturday Nov. 13, beginning with the Division IV final at 11 a.m. 

One side of the Division I semifinals is a rematch of the 2009 finals, as defending champion and top-ranked Cincinnati Ursuline Academy (27-0) takes on 2009 runner-up and third-ranked Dublin Coffman (26-1). The matchup on the other side of the bracket has second-ranked Toledo St. Ursula Academy (26-1) against Brecksville-Broadview Heights (21-6).

The Division II semifinals include fifth-ranked Sunbury Big Walnut (22-5) taking on third-ranked Mansfield Madison Comprehensive (27-1), while tenth-ranked Kettering Archbishop Alter (20-7) faces off against 2009 state runner-up and second-ranked Mentor Lake Catholic (24-2).

Division III semifinal matchups will have fifth-ranked Gates Mills Gilmour Academy (23-4) against top-ranked Zoarville Tuscarawas Valley (28-0), and second-ranked Middletown Bishop Fenwick (26-1) against Rockford Parkway (23-5).

The Division IV semifinal bracket pits second-ranked Sidney Lehman Catholic (27-1) against Toledo Christian (22-5), while fourth-ranked New Philadelphia Tuscarawas C.C. (26-1) will face off against Dalton (23-4).  This is the first time Dalton has reached the state semifinals.
