Compliance and Membership Services Intern for the 2019-20 school year

OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION POSITION OPENING
POSITION: Compliance and Membership Services Intern for the 2019-20 school year
 
TERMS: The internship period will be May/June 2019- June 2020. The intern is expected to work 20-29.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, depending on applicant’s availability and seasonality of position. The normal business hours of the OHSAA are 8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday.
 
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS DESIRED:
  • A minimum of three years of undergraduate coursework (any area of study) is required. Applicants pursuing a graduate degree are preferred. Applicants pursuing a law degree or those interested in administration or compliance are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Must demonstrate skills in computers with ability to utilize the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel.
  • High level of organization; attention to detail; must be a self-starter and able to work independently once assigned a task; must be effective in communicating both in writing and verbally.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Basic Function – Provide administrative support for the OHSAA Compliance & Membership Services Teams, while also gaining valuable work experience in a sports-related field at a highly-respected association. This position reports directly to the Director of Compliance and Director of Membership Services, and assists the Senior Directors of Compliance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Draft and email formal correspondence letters to school administrators.
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of various technology projects
  • Assist in updating membership database (myOHSAA)
  • File copies of eligibility correspondence into school files and assist with organizing school files.
  • Assist with conducting the initial review of eligibility paperwork.
  • Assist with drafting annual bylaw proposal changes.
  • Assist with organizing files for “OHSAA Appeals Panel.”
  • Assist with basic fact gathering in cases, when needed.
  • Attend various meetings, OHSAA events and state tournaments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
     
COMPENSATION: $10 per hour.
