In the fall of 1990, the OHSAA Board of Control authorized the formation of a standing committee on Sportsmanship, Ethics and Integrity. The committee was charged with the responsibility of developing and overseeing programs to develop an awareness of the need for sportsmanship, ethics and integrity in the schools of Ohio. Today, the SEI committee is in charge of the OHSAA School Sportsmanship Program whichawards deserving schools the Respect The Game Challenge, the Harold A. Meyer Award and theCommissioner’s Award for Exceptional Sportsmanship. In addition to developing the OHSAA School Sportsmanship Program, the SEI committee also took the ideas and input of administrators, coaches and student-athletes across Ohio and implemented the Respect the Game program.
