COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coldwater captured its fifth team state championship with a 3-0 win over state runner-up Springfield Greenon at the 2021 OHSAA Division II girls bowling state tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on Friday. In the championship match, Coldwater bowled a 180(36)-188-202 to Greenon’s 180(18)-146-145.
In its 11th appearance in the girls state bowling tournament, Coldwater entered the championship bracket as the top seed after scoring the third-highest 10-pin score in Girls DII history in the qualifying round with a 2,932. The Cavaliers obtained a combined record of 9-1 over the course of the tournament, knocking out Worthington Christian in the quarterfinal round 3-0 (221-192-161 to 128-160-156) and defeating Hubbard 3-1 (146-172-214-165 to 169-153-159-164) in the semi-final round to get them into their eighth state final. Springfield Greenon got to the knockout round of the tournament for the third time, this being their first time at obtaining runner-up honors.
Senior Cailyn Bright of Carrollton rolled the seventh best game in Girls Division II history with a 256 to capture the individual state title with a total score of 695 (239-256-200). Coldwater Senior Alison Davis scored a 665 (187-233-245) to give her state runner-up honors.
