Boys Division I
Beavercreek Captures Second Straight State Title; Fairmont’s Isaiah Shannon Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Beavercreek captured its second straight and third overall state title by defeating Avon Lake 3-2 in the championship match of the 2024 Division I boys state tournament at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on Friday. The Beavers defeated the Shoremen (200-197-163-177-222 to 193-203-147-204-169) in the championship match.
 
In its 10th state tournament appearance, Beavercreek entered the eight-team bracket as the second seed. The Beavers went 9-5 over the course of their championship run, knocking out St Marys Memorial in the quarterfinal round 3-2 (167-231-166-122-236 to 152-172-184-175-187) and defeating Sunbury Big Walnut in the semifinal round 3-1 (173-217-201-179 to 174-155-190-142) to reach their second straight and third overall state title. Avon Lake reached the state tournament for the second, gaining runner-up honors for the first time.
 
Kettering Fairmont senior Isaiah Shannon captured the individual state title with a total score of 743 (251-237-255), the sixth best total score in Division I boys history. Sunbury Big Walnut senior Aidan Furukawa gained runner-up honors with a total score of 728 (266-235-227).
 
 
Girls Division I
Boardman Captures First State Title; Kaitlyn Greenway Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Boardman captured its first state title by defeating Troy 3-1 in the championship match of the 2024 Division I girls state tournament at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on Friday. The Spartans defeated the Trojans (184-158-171-179 to 142-144-203-168), in the championship match.
 
In its third state tournament appearance, Boardman entered the eight-team bracket as the top-seeded team. The Spartans went 9-2 over the course of their championship run, knocking out Bellefontaine in the quarterfinal round 3-0 (193-200-206 to 129-156-156) and defeating Macedonia Nordonia in the semifinal round 3-1 (159-209-195-174 to 169-160-136-165-129) to reach their first state title. Troy reached the state tournament for the 14th time, gaining runner-up honors for the third time to go along with their one state title.
 
Boardman junior Kaitlyn Greenway captured the individual state title with a total score of 653 (218-190-245). Wilmington junior Kylie Fisher gained runner-up honors with a total score of 652 (215-193-244).
 
Girls Division II
Springfield Kenton Ridge Captures First State Title; Carrollton’s Russell Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Springfield Kenton Ridge captured its first state title by defeating Mechanicsburg 3-0 in the championship match of the 2024 Division II girls state tournament at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on Saturday. In the championship match, the Cougars defeated the Indians (179-199-177 to 127-174-167).
 
In its fourth state tournament appearance, Kenton Ridge entered the bracket stage as the second seed. The Cougars went 9-4 over the course of their championship run, knocking out Carrollton in the quarterfinal round 3-2 (169-135-132-167-178 to 156-187-167-153-165) and defeating St Marys Memorial in the semifinal 3-2 (166-222-169-180-157 to 168-172-158-218-115) to reach their first-ever state final. Mechanicsburg reached the final for the second time, gaining runner-up honors for the first time.
 
Carrollton sophomore Kaylee Russell captured the individual state title with a total score of 665 (231-241-193), which ties her for the tenth-best series in girls division II state tournament history. Caledonia River Valley senior Alexis Manning gained runner-up honors with a total score of 662 (246-234-182).
 
Boys Division II
Marion Pleasant Captures First State Title; United’s Hively Wins Individual Title
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Marion Pleasant captured its first state title by defeating Akron Coventry 3-0 in the championship match of the 2024 Division II boys state tournament at H.P. Lanes in Columbus on Friday. In the championship match, the Spartans defeated the Comets (193-267-242 to 190-184-194).
 
In its fourth state tournament appearance, Marion Pleasant entered the eight-team bracket as the third seed. The Spartans went 9-1 over the course of their championship run, knocking out Hanoverton United in the quarterfinal round 3-0 (224-166-256 to 150-150-177) and defeating Warren Champion in the semifinal round 3-1 (205-184-201-211 to 191-206-160-176) to reach their first-ever state final. Coventry reached the state tournament for the second time, gaining runner-up honors for the first time.
 
Hanoverton United senior Ethan Hively captured the individual state title with a total score of 726 (244-239-243). Coldwater junior Caleb Wendel gained runner-up honors with a total score of 702 (262-192-248).
