The Celtics tied their own Division I state tournament record set in 2017 with a team score of 309-298-607. Junior Tyler Groomes earned medalist honors, shooting 70-72-142. Seniors Ethan Snyder and Ryan Norkin were second-team All-Ohio honorees, shooting 79-74-253 and 81-72-153, respectively.

Green senior Maxwell Moldovan was looking to become the third three-time medalist in OHSAA golf history, but finished as runner-up by two strokes, shooting 69-75-144.

Akron Archbishop Hoban finished as team runner-up in its third trip to the state tournament, shooting 310-309-619. Sophomore Solomon Petrie earned first-team All-Ohio honors with a 70-79-149 and senior Aaron Apticar shot 79-74-153 to finish in a tie for 10th and earn second-team honors.

GIRLS DIVISION I
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Returning all five golfers from its 2018 state championship squad, New Albany earned its second-consecutive OHSAA Division I girls golf team title in record-breaking fashion Friday at The Ohio State University Golf Club Gray Course.

The Eagles broke the single-round team score record that they set in 2018, in both rounds of this year’s state tournament, and the overall team score record. The previous single-round record of 292 was surpassed by a 289 first-round score and again with a 282 final-round score, giving the Eagles a total score of 571, which is 21 strokes better than the previous record.

New Albany was led by three first-team All-Ohio performances. Sophomore Anna Ritter shot 71-67-138 to earn medalist honors, junior Madison Spiess finished fourth with a 69-73-142 and sophomore Kary Hollenbaugh shot 73-70-143 to finish fifth. Ritter’s 67 ties an OHSAA girls single-round record.

Upper Arlington finished as the team runner-up and was led by senior Emily Hummer, who earned first-team honors with a 74-67-141 and joined Ritter tying the single-round record.

BOYS DIVISION II
SUNBURY, Ohio – Gahanna Columbus Academy earned a three-peat at the 2019 OHSAA Division II Boys Golf State Tournament Saturday at NorthStar Golf Club. It is the Vikings’ fourth state title in the past six years.

Columbus Academy finished with three golfers in the top seven finishers. Sophomore Russell Ahmed and senior Matthew Cammeyer finished tied for second, shooting 76-75-151 and 74-77-151, respectively. It is Cammeyer’s second-consecutive first-team All-Ohio finish as he tied for fourth in 2018. Senior Ali Khan earned Second-Team honors, shooting 79-76-155, after earning first-team honors the previous two years. Senior Griffin Mitchell rounded out the scoring for the Vikings, shooting 79-79-158 and finishing tied for 12th.

Kettering Archbishop Alter earned its fifth boys golf team runner-up finish with a score of 310-334-644, finishing 29 strokes behind Columbus Academy. Sophomore Tommy Grawe was the highest finisher for the Knights, earning All-Ohio second-team honors by shooting 77-79-156, good for ninth.

GIRLS DIVISION II
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kyleigh Dull, a Kansas Lakota junior, became the sixth two-time medalist in OHSAA girls golf history Saturday at the Ohio State University Golf Club Gray Course.

Dull shot 70-67-137, five strokes better than the runner-up. Dull’s second-round 67 ties the lowest single-round score in OHSAA girls golf history and is the fourth time the score has been accomplished. Dull’s total score of 137 falls one stroke short of Eaton’s Sarah Willis’ 136 in 2017. Being a junior, Dull has the opportunity to become the first three-time medalist in OHSAA girls golf history in 2020.

Lima Central Catholic broke the Division II overall team score record by five strokes, shooting 318-329-647, on the way to its second-straight OHSAA Division II girls golf team state. For the third-consecutive year, juniors Mary Kelly Mulcahy and Erin Mulcahy were the top two finishers for Lima Central Catholic. Mary Kelly shot 73-72-145, good for sixth place and second-team honors. Mary Kelly also finished sixth in 2017 and fifth in 2016. After finishing eighth in 2018, Erin shot 77-75-152, falling just outside of the top 10.
