Dublin Jerome Claims 10th Boys Golf State Title
AKRON, Ohio – Led by medalist Brady Barnum, Dublin Jerome shot a two-day total of 578 at Firestone Country Club’s North Course to claim the school’s 10th OHSAA boys golf state championship.
Jerome posted a 290 in the first round and 288 in the second to edge runner-up Columbus St. Charles (295-285-580) by two shots. Jerome swept the boys and girls Division I state championships for the fifth time; it is the only school in the state to win boys and girls golf state titles in the same year.
Barnum, a junior, shot 69-68-137 to finish 7-under par for the tournament on the par-72 North Course. He is the third individual state champion in Jerome history, joining Jackson Chandler in 2018 (tied for first) and Tyler Groomes in 2019.
Toku Fujiwara (West Chester Lakota West) finished runner-up with a 4-under 140 (70-70).
Barnum was joined by two teammates in the top-10 overall. Evan Menges (72-74-146) tied for seventh, and Trent Thompson (77-71-148) tied for 10th.
Runner-up St. Charles’s top individual was junior Harry Hadden, who placed fourth overall with a 74-70-144.
Division I Girls
Dublin Jerome Wins Record Eighth Girls Golf State Championship
AKRON, Ohio - Dublin Jerome shot a two-day total of 624, 12 shots better than runner-up Rocky River Magnificat, at Firestone Country Club’s Fazio Course to claim its eighth OHSAA girls golf state championship.
Jerome, which last won the state title in 2023, owns more girls golf state championship than any other school in the state. Jerome is also the only school in the state to win girls and boys golf state titles in the same year; in 2025, the school accomplished the feat for the fifth time.
Magnificat, the 2024 team champion, also finished runner-up in 2023.
Three Jerome golfers placed in the top 11 overall. Sophomore Nikitha Suresh finished fifth with a 73-73-146, while sophomores Adella Pawlowski (76-78-154) and Mallory Quickel (80-74-154) were part of a four-way tie for 11th.
Sophomore Calli Reed was the top individual finisher for Magnificat. She placed sixth overall with a 147 (76-71).
Lewis Center Olentangy senior Meadow Tian shot 73-66-139 to earn individual medalist honors. Her second-round 66 was 4-under par and the lowest round of any individual in the tournament. Tian had previously finished sixth as both a freshman and sophomore and tied for second as a junior at the state tournament. Solon’s Serena Wu (69-71-140) was runner-up, one shot behind Tian.
Division II Boys
Kettering Archbishop Alter Wins Fourth Consecutive Golf State Title
KETTERING, Ohio- Led by senior Andrew Gochenhouer, Kettering Archbishop Alter shot a 314 to win the Division II boys golf state championship at NCR Country Club. The tournament was shortened to a one-day event due to inclement weather that forced a mid-round cancelation on day two.
Last year’s individual state champion Matthew Kreusch shot a 79 and was matched by fellow teammate Charlie Anderson to help Alter in pursuit of its eighth overall state title.
Delaware Buckeye Valley senior Sam Reynolds earned the individual state championship with a 72 on day one. Gochenhouer shot a 75 to finish as the individual state runner-up.
Buckeye Valley followed Alter in the standings with a team score of 316 to finish as state runner-up. Warsaw River View (317), Ottawa Hills (318) and Gnadenhutten Indian Valley (320) rounded out the top five.
Following in the top five behind Reynolds and Gochenhouer were Hayden Beaber (Indian Valley) in third at 76, and Matthew Marone (Poland Seminary) and Luke Stephens (Arcanum), tied for fourth at 77.
Division II Girls
Columbus Academy Wins Fourth Consecutive Title
SPRINGBORO, Ohio- Defending state champion Gahanna Columbus Academy shot a 317 to win the Division II girls state championship at Heatherwoode Golf Club. The tournament was shortened to a one-day event due to inclement weather that forced a mid-round cancelation on day two.
Columbus Academy was led by junior Eva Lim who shot a 70 to secure her second-consecutive individual state title. Senior Nala Chebli shot 75 and junior Meera Srini shot 85 to aid the Vikings in pursuit of their fourth state title.
Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy sophomore Sophia Fink and Cincinnati Madeira sophomore Ellie Hartung each shot 71 to share the title of individual state runner-up. Chagrin Falls sophomore Elizabeth Pollock shot 72 to place fourth, and St. Clairsville senior Olivia Baker and Mansfield St. Peter’s junior Joy Kim both shot 73 to tie for fifth.
Madeira was the state runner-up for the second-consecutive year, scoring 327. Behind Madeira was Middletown Bishop Fenwick (343) LaGrange Keystone (349) and Chagrin Falls (364).
Boys Division III
Warren John F. Kennedy Wins Third Consecutive State Title
SUNBURY, Ohio — Warren JFK relied on four seniors to post a two-day score of 618 and win the Division III boys golf state championship at NorthStar Golf Club.
Julian Bolino and Andrew Fredenburg led Warren JFK, each shooting a two-day total of 148. Last year’s individual state champion, Henry Phillips, finished with a 158, and Andrew Lapolla rounded out the group with a 164.
Pettisville placed second with a team score of 641, followed by Berlin Hiland (643), Youngstown Cardinal Mooney (648) and Mechanicsburg (653) to complete the top five.
Kalida sophomore Paul Stechschulte won the individual state championship after carding rounds of 71 and 69 for a 140 total, finishing 4-under par. His second-round 69 and overall score of 140 are both Division III state tournament course records at NorthStar Golf Club.
Alex Eckstein of Cardinal Mooney finished as the individual runner-up with a 145. Hiland’s Jack Mast shot a 148 to tie for third place with Fredenburg and Bolino.
