Brecksville-Broadview Heights Wins 21st Consecutive Gymnastics Team Title
HILLIARD, Ohio – Brecksville-Broadview Heights continues to break records. Last year, Brecksville won its 20th state title by a 0.775 margin of victory over Delaware Olentangy Berlin, which was the closest state tournament since Brecksville defeated Rocky River Magnificat by 0.125 points in 2009.
This year, Brecksville-Broadview Heights closed the margin even more, defeating Rocky River Magnificat by .05 points. The Bees finished with a score of 147.875, while the Blue Streaks scored a 147.825.
Brecksville’s 37.400 on vault and 37.150 on floor were the best of the state tournament in those events. Brecksville junior Gianna Ravagnani competed in three events and paced the Bees with scores of 9.575 (vault), 9.475 (floor) and 9.000 (bars).
Magnificat senior Keira Leneghan competed in all four events and led the Blue Streaks with scores of 9.650 (vault), 9.525 (bars) and 9.475 (beam and floor). Magnificat’s team score of 37.000 on bars and 37.350 on beam were the best of the state tournament.
Individual Competition
Parma Padua Franciscan Tessa Brousek Repeats as All-Around Competition Champion
HILLIARD, Ohio – Parma Padua Franciscan junior Tessa Brousek earned all-around honors for the second-straight year at the 2024 OHSAA Gymnastics State Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Hilliard Bradley High School.
Brousek placed first in the uneven parallel bars, recording a score of 9.575. She also finished third in vault with a score of 9.875. The junior totaled 38.450 points.
Delaware Olentangy Berlin sophomore Tayten Swain finished second in the all-around with 38.350 total points. Swain finished first in the floor exercise (9.550), second in beam (9.675) and vault (9.775) and received fourth in bars (9.350).
Aurora senior Hannah Salgado finished third in the all-around with 38.025 total points. Salgado won the balance beam with a score of 9.725. North Olmsted senior Emma Nolan placed first in the vault with a score of 9.875.
