GIRLS DIVISION II
 
Columbus St. Francis DeSales Earns First OHSAA Girls Lacrosse State Championship 
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — After three straight trips to the OHSAA state semifinals, Columbus St. Francis DeSales (21-1) secured it’s first trophy in the girls lacrosse state tournament by defeating Chagrin Falls (13-4) 11-3 in the 2019 OHSAA Division II girls lacrosse state championship game Saturday morning at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
The 11-3 victory marks the largest margin of victory for a girls Division II lacrosse game since the OHSAA took over lacrosse in 2017. 
 
Senior midfielder Sophia Finotti led the way for the Stallions with five goals, three of which were scored in the first half. Grace Lensmire, senior attack, added four goals of her own.
 
Chagrin Falls secured its third-straight OHSAA State runner-up trophy. The Tigers' senior goalie, Celeste Bunker, had a record-breaking 10 saves in a state championship game. The previous record of nine was set by Frances Harrington of Cincinnati Mariemont in the 2018 state championship game.
 
BOYS DIVISION II
 
Chagrin Falls Dominates in First-Ever OHSAA Boys Lacrosse Championship Game 
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — Chagrin Falls (20-3) defeated Cincinnati Mariemont (19-4) 10-4 to wins its first boys lacrosse Division II state championship Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
Tigers senior attack, Alex Morris, set an OHSAA state championship record for boys Division II lacrosse by scoring four goals against the Warriors. Senior Goalie Otto Bergman’s 13 saves broke another state championship game record. Other scorers for the Tigers include Cameron Owen, Ben Kniskern, Griffin Lowe, Jack Dustin and Cam Croasdaile.
 
Scoring for Cincinnati Mariemont were Braden Bortz and Justin Taylor, led by Josh McClorey. Senior Goalie Hunter Riportella had a notable eight saves while his team took 32 shots throughout the game.
 
GIRLS DIVISION I
 
Upper Arlington Wins Third Straight OHSAA Division I Girls Lacrosse Championship
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — Upper Arlington (20-2-2) secured its third-straight OHSAA Division I girls lacrosse state championship Saturday with a 12-10 victory against New Albany (19-4) at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
It was the second consecutive year where New Albany and Upper Arlington were the final two teams playing for the Division I girls lacrosse state championship trophy.
 
Upper Arlington senior attack Sophie Ballou led the scoring for the Golden Bears with three goals, while seven more players added to the total. 
 
Senior midfielder Emily Rezabek led the scoring efforts for the Eagles with four goals, three of which were in the first half, which ties the record of goals in a state championship game, set by Brooke Smith of Upper Arlington in the 2018 game. New Albany was the state runner-up in the 2018 season, as well.
 
BOYS DIVISION I
 
Dublin Coffman Secures First OHSAA State Championship in Record Setting Game 
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — With the largest winning margin in Division I boys lacrosse since the OHSAA took it over in 2017, Dublin Coffman (19-1) defeated Cincinnati St. Xavier (17-7) 13-8 on its way to a state championship.
 
Rocks senior attack Evan James put the first point on the board :12 into the start of the game and Dublin Coffman didn’t look back from there. James scored a game high, and Division I state championship record five goals. Senior attack Ethan Tyack set his own record with four assists. A team total of 38 shots and 13 goals sets a record for the boys lacrosse Division I state championship game.
 
Cincinnati St. Xavier was the defending state champion after defeating Cleveland St. Ignatius 10-9 in 2018.
 
Bomber senior goalie Charles Hutchins tied the record for saves in a Division I boys lacrosse state championship game with 12. Andrew Green had a team-high three goals.
