With high school football not beginning until two weeks after the soccer season, we are continuing our statewide initiative, “OHSAA’s Friday Night Futbol, presented by the Columbus Crew SC”. This opportunity permits games to be played on Friday night, August 21, 2020 (one day earlier than the traditional ‘Saturday’ start) with a few goals in mind:
-
To make High School soccer #TheOnlyGameInTown
-
To offer marching bands the opportunity to perform at halftime by permitting a 15:00 halftime length
-
To offer students an athletic event at your school on a Friday evening during the first week of school (for many schools)
Also, we are excited to announce that the OHSAA is partnering with the Columbus Crew SC to help make this initiative a success again this year. Each school hosting a game that evening will receive 2 tickets to a Columbus Crew SC match. Our hope is that each school will raffle off the tickets during the game to add to the excitement for fans and a small fund-raising opportunity for Athletic Departments/Soccer teams.
Tickets will be sent to the home team’s Athletic Director, Attn: Girls/Boys Soccer program.
There is NO charge, NO lengthy forms, NO donation, etc. We simply want to help promote high school soccer!
If you plan on playing your first game on Friday, August 21, and participating in this initiative, please RSVP by Friday, August 7th to Kathleen Coughlin, Director at [email protected] with the following information:
