UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio �Thomas Worthington defeated Cincinnati St. Ursula
Academy 1-0 in the first semifinal game of the OHSAA state field hockey
tournament that began Friday at Upper Arlington High School. This game
was a rematch of the 2010 state championship game.
Thomas Worthington (19-0-1) will play in the championship game Saturday
against the winner of the Gahanna Columbus Academy and Shaker Heights
Hathaway Brown game. The Cardinals are looking to win its third OHSAA
field hockey state championship. They previously won titles in 2007 and
1988. The reigning state champion, St. Ursula Academy, finishes the year
16-4-0.

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio � Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown defeated Gahanna
Columbus Academy 2-1 in overtime in the second semifinal game of the
OHSAA state field hockey tournament that began Friday at Upper Arlington
High School. After a 1-1 tie after 60 minutes of play, freshman Audrey
Warner scored the winning goal with 2:00 left in the 10 minute sudden
death overtime.
Hathaway Brown (15-2-2) will play in the championship game Saturday
against Thomas Worthington who beat the defending state champions,
Cincinnati St. Ursula Academy, in the first semifinal game of the day.
The Blazers, who have made 10 consecutive state appearances, are looking
to win their first title since 2008. Columbus Academy, who has a field
hockey state record eight state titles, finishes the year 17-2-1.

State Championship Game

UPPER ARLINGTON, Ohio � In overtime, Thomas Worthington sophomore
Nina Devine scored the game�s only goal to give the Cardinals a 1-0 win
over Shaker Heights Hathaway Brown Saturday in the OHSAA field hockey
state championship game at Upper Arlington High School.
The state title is the third for Thomas Worthington (20-0-1), which also
won titles in 2007 and 2008. The Cardinals were the state runner-up last
year and avenged that loss in the semifinals this year with a 1-0 win
over Cincinnati St. Ursula. Thomas Worthington was making its sixth
appearance in the state tournament.
The Cardinals posted seven shots on goal compared to three for HB, and
also led in penalty corners 14-4. Thomas Worthington also defeated HB
during the regular-season, 1-0, and posted shutout victories in 11 of
its 20 victories this season.
Hathaway Brown (15-3-2) was a player short in overtime due to a yellow
card violation and disqualification. The Blazers won state titles in
2008 and 2002 and were making their 11th appearance in the state
tournament.
