OHSAA Board of Directors Meeting Highlights
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio High School Athletic Association Board of Directors held its regularly scheduled April meeting Thursday morning at the OHSAA office. The following are highlights from the meeting. Complete meeting minutes will be posted at OHSAA.org.

The Board was updated on the announced changes to the wrestling and girls basketball state tournaments in March 2020. Please see the release posted at:

The Board was updated on the spring athletic discussion meetings that are scheduled in each of the six districts around the state to explain the upcoming referendum voting items and other OHSAA issues (five meetings remain). Media are welcome to attend a meeting. Details are posted at:

Member schools, which are required to submit a referendum ballot, will have access to the ballot online beginning May 1. Voting ends May 15. This is the first year the referendum voting will be done completely online through each school’s myOHSAA account. There are six constitution items, 16 high school bylaw items and two 7th and 8th grade bylaw items. Information is posted at:

Since the Board’s last meeting, six member schools were penalized for committing infractions of OHSAA bylaws or sports regulations. The list of infractions and penalties is always included in the complete meeting minutes, but media members may request the list in advance from Tim Stried at

The Board approved a modification to the number of qualifiers for the OHSAA 7th and 8th Grade Track and Field State Championships, which will be held May 11 in Lancaster. Previously, the top 16 individuals on the state performance list qualified to the state championships. Now, the top 24 individuals will qualify. Details are posted at:
