Greetings from the OHSAA! Please see below for a snapshot of recent memos, important reminders, updates, links to the OHSAA’s posting boards, a feature article and more.
Tentative Timeline for Next Enrollment Cycle and Divisional Alignments with Competitive Balance Data for Selected Sports

Monday February 6 – OHSAA will post high school base enrollment data received from ODE (grades 9-11 as of October 31, 2016) for the next two-year cycle. Schools will have three weeks to appeal enrollment numbers.

March 24 Board of Directors Meeting – Board will be asked to approve base enrollment data pending reconciliation of data from OHSAA member schools

End of March and Early April – OHSAA staff will add competitive balance roster data submitted by member schools in football, soccer and volleyball and establish adjusted enrollment counts in those sports.

April 6 Board of Directors meeting – Board will be asked to approve adjusted enrollment counts in football, soccer and volleyball and approve divisional breakdowns in all fall sports.

May – OHSAA staff will add competitive balance data submitted by member schools in basketball and establish adjusted enrollment for that sport.

June 1 Board of Directors Meeting – Board will be asked to approve adjusted enrollment counts in basketball and approve divisional breakdowns in all winter sports.

Summer – OHSAA staff will add competitive balance data submitted by schools in softball and baseball and establish adjusted enrollment counts in those sports.

August 3 Board of Directors Meeting – Board will be asked to approve adjusted enrollment counts in softball and baseball and approve divisional breakdowns in all spring sports.
Schools to Enter Schedules into Arbiter and Directory information into myOHSAA
Member schools are asked to input all varsity sports schedules into Arbiter. Schools can also begin entering 2017 varsity football schedules at this time (May 15 deadline). The online school directory has returned to
www.OHSAA.org, and member schools are asked to log into myOHSAA and make sure all information is accurate. This includes administrators’ names and head coaches’ names, etc.
GOODSTUFF SPOTLIGHT: OHSAA Commissioner Dr. Dan Ross – “You Never, Ever Give Up.”
COLUMBUS DISPATCH: During a 46-year career as a high school teacher, coach, principal, superintendent, counselor, referee and administrator, Dan Ross has lived by a simple doctrine. "When you get knocked down, you've got to get back up and fight like crazy," he said. "That holds true in academics, athletics and life in general. You never, ever give up." Ross' theory has been put to the test repeatedly during an exhausting health ordeal that began 15 months ago and until now he has shielded from the public. Read the full story by Steve Blackledge at:
Baseball Pitch Count Regulation Approved by Board of Directors
Last Thursday, the OHSAA Board of Directors approved a new pitch count regulation in baseball for grades 7-12, as mandated by the National Federation. Check out the OHSAA’s baseball page for details and the press release:

myOHSAA and Arbiter Reminders
A reminder to OHSAA member schools that myOHSAA will still be used for Participation Cards, Tournament Entry, Officials Tournament Voting and Rating, Staff Management, School Directory Information, Pre-Season Parent Meetings and Football Computer Ratings. As of July 1, 2016, the company that programmed myOHSAA (Digital Scout) was purchased by another company, which removed software development as its core business. In consultation with the OIAAA, the OHSAA was fortunate to find a national company in ArbiterSports to handle scheduling/contracting and assigning. Many officials and schools were already using Arbiter and most found the product outstanding. There have been some normal transition bumps due to code issues, but the OHSAA is confident these will be worked out. Arbiter, with the NCAA as its majority owner, is provided at no cost for high schools. Schools that choose to use ArbiterPay can save substantial costs despite $1.40 transaction fee per official per contest, which covers all W9’s, the payment itself, 1099 issuance and other record keeping costs. The OHSAA staff has conducted extensive training sessions around Ohio with conferences, leagues and schools.
