RSVP requested for event co-hosted by OHSAA and Ohio Association of Broadcasters; meeting to include broadcast updates and Q&A sessions

COLUMBUS, Ohio – High school sports broadcasters throughout Ohio are invited to attend the next statewide broadcasters meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 7, co-hosted by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the Ohio Association of Broadcasters. The meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the OHSAA offices (4080 Roselea Place, Columbus, OH 43214).

Tommy Thrall, the newest member of the Cincinnati Reds broadcast crew, will speak about his career in broadcasting and joining the Reds broadcast team, which includes Hall of Famer Marty Brennaman, who will retire this fall after his 46th season with the Reds. Thrall was with the Reds’ former AA Affiliate in Pensacola, Florida, for the previous seven seasons as broadcaster and media relations coordinator. While in Pensacola, the Northwest Missouri State graduate also broadcast games for the University of West Florida and was named the Southern League Broadcaster of the Year in 2015.

There is no fee to attend the meeting and a complimentary lunch will be provided, courtesy of the Ohio Association of Broadcasters. Radio, television and online broadcasters are all welcome to attend. Attendees are asked to RSVP to Tim Stried, OHSAA Director of Communications, at [email protected].

“We are proud to partner with the OHSAA to support this forum to discuss sports broadcasting,” said Christine Merritt, OAB president. “Ohio has a wealth of radio and television broadcasters who cover high school sports and showcase the accomplishments of student-athletes, and we hope to see many of them at this event.”

In addition to hearing from Thrall, agenda items include an open forum discussion on submitted topics and updates on high school broadcasting regulations from the OHSAA.
