(March, 2002) REVIEW: 30th
Annual State Tournaments, Dublin Coffman High School, March 1 and 2
Rocky River Magnificat won its second state championship in four years and
increased its lead in all-time state titles to nine in a close three-team race. Magnificat
had 145.875 points, Columbus St. Francis finished second for the second straight year with
145.750 and two-time defending champion Brecksville-Broadview Heights was third with
144.900.
In Saturdays individual and all around competition, Rocky River Magnificat
freshman Elyse Adams won the all around title
with 37.350 points. She also won the uneven parallel bars. Brecksville-Broadview Heights
sophomore Erica Trippet defended her championship on the balance beam, while teammate
Sarah Jacobson, a freshman, won the vault and Magnificat freshman Katie Niksa won the
floor exercise.
