GIRLS SOCCER STATE TOURNAMENTS
WHAT: 14th Annual Girls State Soccer Tournaments
Division I:
Senior Lisa Zalar scored the only goal of the game with 27:22 to play in the second half
as Strongsville (17-2-4) defeated Fairfield 1-0 in the championship game at Hilliard
Davidson High School. It was the first first appearance in the state title contest for
both schools. Strongsville reached the state finals with a 2-1 win over defending state
champion Medina behind goals from Zalar and classmate Katie Milligan. Fairfield defeated
Columbus Bishop Watterson in the semifinals, 1-0 in two overtimes, when senior Danielle
Berkemeier scored on a penalty kick.
Division II:
Columbus St. Francis DeSales (18-2-2) captured its second straight state championship and
third title in four years with a 3-2 shootout victory over top-ranked Kettering Archbishop
Alter in the final played at Westerville South High School. Junior Erin Skladany, senior
Julie Signoracci and sophomore Tesia Kozlowski scored shootout goals for DeSales, and
Kozlowski and senior Nicole Pry scored during regulation. Alter�s goals came from seniors
Lindsey Whitehead and Missy Gregg. DeSales reached the finals with a 3-1 win over Chagrin
Falls. Signoracci, junior Theresa Fox and freshman Ashley Schillig scored goals for the
Stallions. Two goals by Gregg and one each by seniors Sara Edwards and Liz Brown carried
Alter to a 4-1 semifinal win over St. Bernard Roger Bacon in the other semifinal contest.

Fairfield 1, Columbus Bishop Watterson 0 at Centerville
Division II:
Columbus St. Francis DeSales 3, Chagrin Falls 1 at Wadsworth
Kettering Archbishop Alter 4, St. Bernard Roger Bacon 1 at Liberty Township Lakota East
