Bishop Fenwick Outlasts Ontario for Girls
Division III Soccer Title
Falcons win in double-overtime
for their second OHSAA state title
COLUMBUS, Ohio Middletown Bishop
Fenwick senior Meghan Blank slipped past her defender and put a crossing
pass from freshman Leandra Hess into the back of the net in double-overtime
to make the Falcons state champions, 3-2 over Ontario, in the 2012 OHSAA
girls Division III state soccer championship game on Friday at Crew Stadium
in Columbus.
Bishop Fenwick (18-1-3) put pressure on Ontario
all game long with 24 shots and 12 shots on goal. Blank scored the winning
goal and the first goal for the Falcons, with junior Sezcezney Lytle adding
the goal in between.
Ontario (18-4-1) was on the board first in the
29th minute of the first half. Senior Taylor Elliot scored on an assist from
junior Katie Earhart. The Lady Warriors second goal in the game came in
minute 58 in the second half from sophomore Allie Atkinson on a corner kick
that eluded Fenwick junior goalie Jenni Rossi. The goal would be the last of
the offense for Ontario.
Fenwicks attack was overwhelming in the two
overtimes, not allowing Ontario to record a shot in either of the extra
periods.
With the title Bishop Fenwick has now claimed
two championships in three trips to the final four. The Falcons previous
title came in 2008.
Ontario becomes runner-up for the first time in
its girls soccer history. The Lady Warriors were making their first state
championship game appearance.

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Yellow Jackets from
Perrysburg capped off an unblemished season with a 1-0 victory over Mason in

minute of the first half when Perrysburg senior Maddy Williams was fouled
inside the box resulting in a penalty kick. Williams capitalized on the
opportunity, proving to be the game winner.

physical battle between both teams. Perrysburg committed 11 fouls to Masons

Dayton Carroll Wins Division II Soccer Title
for Third Straight Year
First three-peat in OHSAA boys
soccer history
COLUMBUS, Ohio Dayton Carroll scored
two goals in the first half and defended well against Cuyahoga Falls
Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy the entire game to win its third straight
OHSAA boys Division II soccer championship Saturday at Crew Stadium in
Columbus.
Carrolls (19-0-4) third championship in a row
marks the first time in OHSAA history a boys soccer program has won three

opportunities throughout the course of the game, but was only able to get
one opportunity on goal.

through the course of the game with an assist on the Patriots first goal and
a goal of his own in the 28th minute of the first half. Senior Zach Zwiesler
was credited with the assist on Byrds goal. Patriots junior John Rutan
scored the first goal of the game not even two minutes after the opening
kick-off.
In its ninth state tournament appearance, CVCA
becomes runner-up for the fourth time. The Royals have won three state
