DIVISION II – GIRLS
Sarah Price’s Late-Game Heroics Lift Cincinnati Indian Hill to 13-12 State Championship Win over Chagrin Falls
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — Cincinnati Indian Hill senior Sarah Price scored a goal with 5.5 seconds remaining in regulation to lift the Braves to a 13-12 win over Chagrin Falls in the inaugural OHSAA Division II girls lacrosse state championship game Saturday morning at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
Down 8-4 early in the second half, the Braves ripped off six straight goals to take their first lead since 1-0 early in the first half. With the game tied at 11 with 6:47 remaining in the game, there was a five-minute scoreless period before Chagrin Falls junior Catie Beg gave the Tigers the lead with 1:47 remaining. Sophomore Elli Rabenold brought Indian Hill level at 12 with 52 seconds left in the game, and with time winding down, Price delivered the game-winner with 5.5 ticks left on the clock.
 
Mazzola led Chagrin Falls (17-5) with four goals. Beg finished with three goals and one assist.
 
Rabenold finished with five goals and one assist for Indian Hill (22-1). Senior Robin Schumacher scored four goals, and senior Lily Lance added two goals and three assists.  
 
DIVISION II – BOYS
Cincinnati Mariemont Defeats Toledo St. Francis de Sales 9-4 for Inaugural Boys Div. II Lacrosse State Title
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — Cincinnati Mariemont used a strong second half effort to defeat Toledo St. Francis de Sales 9-4 in the inaugural OHSAA Division II boys lacrosse state championship game Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
Tied 3-3 at the half, Mariemont (19-3) outscored de Sales 6-1 in the second half, including five unanswered goals from the third quarter into late in the final stanza.
 
Mariemont’s balanced scoring attack included goals from seven different players, led by senior Anthony DiMichele and junior Bradley Quick, who each scored two.
 
Senior Nick Provenza led de Sales (18-6) with two goals and one assist. Senior Kevin Hack and junior Trevor Doren each tallied a goal.
 
DIVISION I – GIRLS
Upper Arlington Spoils Massillon Jackson’s Perfect Season with Dominating 15-6 Victory in Inaugural Girls Division I Lacrosse State Championship Game
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — Upper Arlington used a potent offensive attack to defeat previously undefeated Massillon Jackson 15-6 in the inaugural OHSAA Division I girls lacrosse state championship game Saturday afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
Anna Schildmeyer, Olivia Schildmeyer and Brenna Smith each scored three goals for Upper Arlington (19-2), while Megan Kozar and Brooke Smith each added two. O. Schildmeyer and Brenna Smith led the team with four total points, as they each had one assist to complement their hat tricks in goals. Junior Lauren Farber had a game-high two assists and had one goal.
 
Senior Julia Hartnett had a team-high three points for Massillon Jackson (21-1), finishing with two goals and one assist. Senior Megan Rea finished with two goals for the Polar Bears.
 
DIVISION I – BOYS
Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller Knocks Off Cleveland St. Ignatius 9-8 in Double-Overtime Thriller in Inaugural Boys Division I Lacrosse State Championship Game
 
DELAWARE, Ohio — Cincinnati Archbishop Moeller junior Logan Dieball scored 26 seconds into the second sudden-victory overtime to lift the Crusaders to a 9-8 victory over Cleveland St. Ignatius in the inaugural OHSAA Division I boys lacrosse state championship game Saturday evening at Ohio Wesleyan University’s Selby Stadium.
 
Down 4-2 early in the second quarter, Moeller scored three unanswered goals to take its first lead of the game and a 5-4 halftime lead. Ignatius scored the only two goals of the third quarter to retake the lead at 6-5.
 
The Wildcats continued their second half momentum with an early fourth-quarter goal from freshman Michael Boehm at the 10:10 mark. Moeller then ripped off three unanswered goals to retake the lead at 8-7 with 4:08 remaining in regulation. With 2:13 left on the clock, St. Ignatius tied the game at 8 with a goal from senior Riley Kinzel. The teams headed to sudden-victory overtime tied at 8.
 
The Wildcats and Crusaders were scoreless in the first overtime period, but a slashing penalty on St. Ignatius with four seconds left allowed Moeller to start with a one-man advantage in the second overtime. The Crusaders seized the opportunity just 26 seconds into the period with Dieball’s game-winner to claim the state title.
 
Sophomore Brendan Sigurdson led Moeller (17-7) with a game-high three goals. Dieball (two goals, one assist), Lucas Klever (one goal, two assists) and Justin Miller (two goals, one assist) each finished with three total points for the Crusaders.
 
St. Ignatius (14-8) had seven different players score a goal, led by sophomore Nate Conry, who finished with two. Boehm finished with a game-high four points (one goal, three assists).
