2020 Bowling State Tournament Coverage

Because of limited spectator capacity at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl, the venue hosting the OHSAA State Bowling Championships, please understand that if you arrive to the championship(s) after capacity has been reached, you will not be able to enter the facility. After the eight advancing teams have been determined, attendance will decline and tickets will again be sold. Division II Girls

Bryan defeated Coldwater, 3-1 (183-136-158-188 to 161-193-125-181), to win the Golden Bears’ first bowling state title in school history at the 2020 OHSAA Division II Girls Bowling State Tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on Friday.
 
Fourth-seeded Bryan defeated defending state champion, St. Marys Memorial, 3-1 (162-163-184-177 to 153-205-135-176) in the quarterfinals and swept Springfield Greenon 3-0 (197-215-192 to 181-195-143) in the semifinal round. The victory also avenged Bryan’s 2019 state runner-up finish to St. Marys Memorial. 2020 also marked the Golden Bears’ fourth trip to the state tournament since 2015.
 
 Bellefontaine Benjamin Logan junior Kaylee Nicholas was named the individual champion with a score of 628. Fredricktown senior Hannah Vaughn earned individual state runner-up with a score of 602.
 
The 2020 OHSAA bowling state tournaments continue Saturday, as Division II boys take to the lanes at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Division II Boys

Coldwater swept Fairport Harbor Fairport Harding, 3-0 (194-230-199 to 188-160-172), to win their fourth bowling state championship in school history at the 2020 OHSAA Division II Boys Bowling State Tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on Saturday.
 
The fourth-seeded Cavaliers played a total of 10 games in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds and defeated Urbana (208-176-211-197-193 to 179-182-236-177-177) and Galion (182-163-177-220-198 to 149-186-156-227-206) to reach the state championship stage. It was Coldwater’s second state championship in the last five years and 11th state tournament appearance in school history.
 
Heath senior Konnor Goodin was named individual champion with a score of 747, which ranks second in the highest three-game series in Division II state tournament history. Rocky River Lutheran West freshman JT Maslanich was the individual state runner-up with a score of 745, which ranks third in the highest three-game series in Division II state tournament history. Maslanich also bowled a 300, which is tied for the highest single game score in Division II state tournament history.
 
The 2020 OHSAA bowling state tournaments continue next weekend, with Division I girls taking to the lanes on Friday, March 6, and Division I boys on Saturday, March 7.

Division I Girls

Gahanna-Lincoln beat Fairborn, 3-1 (171-122-162-200 to 157-158-158-177), to win the Lions’ second bowling state title in school history at the 2020 OHSAA Division I Girls Bowling State Tournament at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on Friday.
 
The fifth-seeded Lions defeated Cincinnati Seton, 3-2 (176-217-179-163-168 to 190-187-152-185-148), in the quarterfinals and Springfield, 3-1 (184-200-142-219 to 139-136-174-139), to reach the state championship stage. Gahanna-Lincoln’s other state title win came in 2018.
Springfield junior Ashley Falke took home the individual state champion honors when she finished with a score of 641. Wapakoneta junior McKenzie Wagner was named individual state runner-up with a score of 637.
 
The 2020 OHSAA bowling state tournaments conclude on Saturday with Division I boys taking to the lanes at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Division I Boys

Sidney swept the 2020 OHSAA Division I Boys Bowling State Tournament to win its first bowling state championship at the at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl on Saturday.
 
The third-seeded Yellow Jackets started with a 3-0 win over Berea-Midpark (182-236-188 to 164-179-170) in the quarterfinals, then defeated Mentor, 3-0 (200-202-200 to 144-158-158), and finished with rolling past the reigning state champion Centerville, 3-0 (237-171-244 to 196-160-193). It was Sidney’s second state tournament appearance in school history.
 
Wadsworth senior Chris Steele earned individual state champion honors with a score of 716. Vandalia Butler senior Ben French finished as the individual state runner-up with a score of 702.
