2010 OHSAA Girls Tennis Championships OHSAA Girls Tennis State Tournament Recap � October 23, 2010 HILLIARD, Ohio – The OHSAA girls state tennis tournament concluded Saturday at Hilliard Davidson High School. The defending champion was defeated in Division I singles, the defending champion won in Division II singles, while the two doubles champions were sisters and cousins, respectively. Division I singles saw a new state champion crowned as Sandy Niehaus (So., Cin. Mt. Notre Dame) defeated the returning state champion Niki Flower (Sr., Upper Arlington) 2-6, 6-4, 6-4. Flower completes her high school career with four state championship appearances, finishing runner-up this year, winning singles in 2009, runner-up doubles 2008 and a participant in singles in 2007. Niehaus wins the singles state title in her first appearance. In girls Division I doubles, sister Komal Safdar (Sr.) and Mehvish Safdar (Fr., Cin. Ursuline Academy) became state champions, winning 6-4, 6-2 over runners-up Dublin Jerome. Komal was the Division I single state runner-up last year. Alyssa Ritchie (Sr., Waynesville) became a back-to-back state champion in Division II singles, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-0 over Rachel Nelson (So., Millersburg West Holmes). Ritchie becomes the 14th girl in OHSAA history to win multiple state singles titles. Hilliard Bradley cousins Lauren Thai (So.) and Ashley Thai (So.) won the Division II doubles championship, defeating Cin. Hills Christian Academy 6-0, 6-2. The title is Hilliard Bradley�s first in girls tennis.
