COLUMBUS, Ohio – High school sports broadcasters throughout Ohio are invited to the annual statewide broadcasters meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 16, co-hosted by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the Ohio Association of Broadcasters. The meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the OHSAA offices (4080 Roselea Place, Columbus, OH 43214).

John Michael, radio voice of the Cleveland Cavaliers since 2011, will be the featured speaker and will share thoughts on his career in broadcasting. The Notre Dame graduate first went into law before switching to sports broadcasting, which has included stops with the Hagerstown Suns, Lake Erie Monsters and Columbus Blue Jackets.

Radio, television and online broadcasters are all welcome to attend. There is no fee to attend the meeting and a complimentary lunch will be provided. Attendees are asked to RSVP to Tim Stried, OHSAA Director of Communications, at [email protected].

“Ohio has such a strong tradition of high school sports coverage by local radio and television stations and we are proud to support that and help provide this forum for discussion,” said Christine Merritt, OAB president. “We have enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the OHSAA and look forward to this meeting to share ideas and discuss the high school sports broadcasting.”

In addition to hearing from John Michael, agenda items include an open forum discussion on submitted topics, updates on high school broadcasting regulations from the OHSAA and follow-up comments from last year’s meeting regarding the former Ohio Sportscasters Association.
