Division
I
Massillon
Jackson junior Joey Thomas defeated Cincinnati Sycamore
senior Deepak Indrakanti, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the Division I
singles state championship on Saturday. Play began at the
Outdoor Varsity Tennis Courts at The Ohio State University
but the Division I singles state finals match and
consolation match ended at Elysium Tennis Center in Plain
City due to inclement weather. Thomas was making his third
straight appearance in the boys tennis state tournament.
Thomas� victory gives Massillon Jackson its second boys
tennis state singles champion. 2014 Division I singles state
champion Cleveland St. Ignatius senior Nathan Griffin
finished third. Griffin was making his fourth consecutive
boys tennis state tournament appearance. Willoughby South
senior Vincent Anzalone finished fourth.
Cincinnati Sycamore doubles pair,
junior Alex Taylor and senior Nakul Narendran, captured the
sixth doubles state championship in Cincinnati Sycamore
school history. Taylor/Narendran defeated Copley doubles
pair, juniors Carlos Martinez and Gavin Aten, 6-1, 7-5 in
the state final match. Narendran was a member of Cincinnati
Sycamore�s 2014 Division I doubles state champion pair.
Westlake pair, seniors Cal Craven and Connor Michelich
defeated Massillon Jackson doubles pair, senior Mark
Dickerhoof and junior Wesley Piekarski, 6-4, 6-2 in the
consolation match to claim third place.
Division II
Lexington
senior Mason Dragos captured the first singles state
championship in Lexington High School history at the 2015
OHSAA boys tennis state tournament at the Outdoor Varsity
Tennis Courts at The Ohio State University on Saturday.
Dragos qualified for the boys tennis state tournament in
each of his four years, finishing third in 2014 and ends his
high school career a state champion. Dragos defeated 2013
and 2014 Division II singles state champion, Asher Hirsch,
in the semifinal round by scores of 1-6, 7-5, 6-2. Dragos
advanced to the Division II singles state final where he
defeated Gahanna Columbus Academy junior Jacob Wareti, 6-3,
6-2. Wareti was making his third straight appearance at the
boys tennis state tournament. Cincinnati Country Day senior
Asher Hirsch defeated Cincinnati Indian Hill junior
Alexander Warstler, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) in the consolation match
to claim third place. Hirsch placed in each of his four
years at the state tournament (Division II singles third
place in 2012, 2013 and 2014 Division II singles state
champion).
Cincinnati Country Day doubles pair,
sophomores Shaheel Mitra and Vishaal Nalagatla defeated
Cincinnati Wyoming doubles pair, seniors Myles Bourbon and
Will Carter, 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (10-8) in the Division II doubles
state championship. Country Day has won two straight doubles
state championships and five overall. Toledo Ottawa Hills
doubles pair, senior Matt Gargas and sophomore Tyler Gargas,
defeated West Milton Milton-Union pair, senior Matt
Brumbaugh and sophomore Phillip Brumbaugh, 6-7 (0-7), 6-1,
6-2 to claim third place.

a.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 in the Biggs Classroom in the
Woody Hayes Athletic Complex (555 Irving Schottenstein
Drive).
Times and Format:
Play begins at the OSU Outdoor Varsity Tennis
Courts both days at 9 a.m. with Division I singles players,
followed by Division II singles players, followed by doubles
teams.

available at the Gray Lots around the baseball,
softball and track facilities at Ohio State. Please enter
this parking area off of Fred Taylor Drive.

2400 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, OH 43210. Please note
that there will be high school graduations at the
Schottenstein Center located near the tennis courts all day
on Saturday. Please plan accordingly.

Limited parking for spectators will be available
at Midwest Retail Services, Inc., 7670 Commerce Place and
also at Distinctive Marble & Granite located at 7635
Commerce Place. Please enter these respective lots from the
first parking entrance when you turn onto Commerce Place and
please respect the reserved parking spaces reserved for
employees and customers. Do not remove barriers placed to
reserve these spaces for business personnel. Also, please do
not block any entrance (or exit) to the shipping and
receiving areas of these businesses. Violators of the
parking restrictions will be towed at the owner�s expense.
Shuttles will not be provided to Elysium and it is
recommended that fans carpool if possible if the tournament
should be moved indoors to Elysium.
